Customer Is King, But Is He God?

Many times, we find innocent souls forced to beg on the streets or we see homeless persons being turned away when they enter a restaurant in a prime locality. We can also see at many businesses they have hung boards which say that “Customer is King” etc., The same restaurant which chases a homeless person out because he or she accidentally enters it welcomes those with money in their pockets and provides them with a comfortable place to sit down and eat etc.,

What have we done with our Natural environment? No other life form on the Earth behaves with each other in this manner or perhaps we do not know if they do. The very fact that the natural resources of our planet are not available to a lot of people at large is alarming. It is very disturbing to see the use of the word “Customer” everywhere. So many conveniences /payment options /credits etc., are provided by businesses/banks etc., for Customers none to the status of being born on our planet as humans. A great Tamil saint once sung “To be born a human is most venerable; the most awful thing in the world is being born poor and even more awful is poverty during youth.”

The other aspect of our lives is our work. Creativity at large is being ignored completely. One can find that the management personnel in organizations acting in an arrogant manner knowing fully well how powerful they are within the organization. The management in organizations takes biased decisions that favor themselves, these come at the welfare of the knowledge workers or the persons who make things happen.

The buzz words being used everywhere unfortunately are politics/customer/business/money/capital etc., instead of humanity/welfare of all etc.,

Human creativity is the reason why we can ride on cars, aeroplanes, send messages that get transmitted instantly to each other electronically etc., But unfortunately, we see the credit for developing these innovations goes to the founders of technology companies or owners of businesses that make these technologies. The owners and other management personnel are mostly insensitive, do not take an active interest in knowing about processes and methods or the theory behind how such innovations work or do not participate actively in the development of such innovations.

Everything is done by the knowledge workers, but unfortunately, we see them being terminated in the workplace to give way to arrogance and politics that dominate over humanity and creativity.

Whether it is the case of a homeless person being turned away from a restaurant or if the homeless person were born as a stray homeless animal in which case it could have eaten food found freely on the planet, or whether it the case of rewarding persons with vested political and commercial interests instead of recognizing innovators or knowledge workers who help in taking human creativity to the next level, one thing is sure. We need to restore humanity to human beings, not to customers and others with political interests…
